Science, I’m Lovin’ it!

In Te Maunga this week we had a visit from the Northland Science Roadshow. There were three activities like rockets, spectroscopy, and water testing. The first activity that we did was the water testing. We had to fill up a tiny bottle half way and then we put in six drops of a sort of chemical and then at the end we all compared the bottles to see which one was lighter and which one was darker. For the second activity we did the spectroscopy which we had to wear these glasses that made everything look like rainbows. Then the man turned on the lights and it was amazing it looked like a rainbow kind of flower and it was also like an illusion. For the third and final activity we did the rockets. First we had to pump up the bottle to make more pressure so that when we launched it would burst out. Next we had someone launch it. I covered my ears because I knew it was going to be loud and then we all said 3, 2, 1 and then it got launched and it went like the speed of light. The next thing we did was testing the other rocket which you had to use a lighter to launch it. There was a tiny whole in the cap of the bottle so that when you light it the heat will go in and burst out which will launch it. It was amazing.
